Ministry of Culture launches Fashion Incubation Program to support local talents

The Ministry of Culture launched its Fashion Incubation program on Thursday. The program is the first of its kind and is designed to uncover, support, and promote local creatives and entrepreneurs in the fashion sector.The Fashion Incubation program is supported by the Quality of Life program, one of Saudi Vision 2030 programs, and has three phases in 2021.The program’s first phase is a three-day virtual “fashion hackathon,” which will see participants split into small groups to solve challenges in design, technology and sustainability within a short period of time. The Ministry started receiving applications for the first phase, lasting 8 days, through its e-platform https://engage.moc.gov.sa/fashion_incubationThe winners in the Hackathon will receive a five-day trip to Milan Fashion Week, while three runners-up will receive financial rewards and other prizes.The second phase is a “boot camp,” which is a five-day virtual event focused on fashion and entrepreneurship that will help participants to develop their ideas, network, and receive support from regional and international fashion professionals.The third phase “incubator” is a longer-term program providing participants with the guidance necessary to help them develop and strengthen their businesses and products through mentorship sessions and extensive training.With its three phases, the Fashion Incubation program targets all kinds of talents such as students, entrepreneurs, practitioners, and startups in an effort to support them through providing continuous mentorship and guidance to help them develop prototypes for their products and plan their business, as well as offering the needed knowledge to establish their projects.The Fashion Incubation program reflects the Ministry’s keenness to nurture cultural talents within its initiative to advance cultural entrepreneurship, as it works to attract and nurture talents in the sector to encourage innovation and development.
